Building Documentation (City Scale)
Planning basis for attic based construction
In many city centres, attic space is the only available area for creating new flats and offices. The viability of different options must be analysed without too much effort during blueprint planning. The city model managed using CityGRID is advantageous in that simplified roof lines from photogrammetry surveys can be made available. This data is usually accurate down to a few decimetres and is sufficient for blueprint planning.
Existing surrounding buildings can be integrated into planning inexpensively early on, thus improving the overall planning quality in sensitive city areas.

Existing setting model for architectural competitions
Plans entered in architectural competitions as part of project development must be able to be compared and assessed using an objective basis. The 3D city model can provide a standard framework for all participants and ensure that results can be compared. The city model in the project neighbourhood should be a roof shape model or, better yet, a textured form model. The model is generally provided to participating architects in 3D Studio or AutoCAD format, which are supported directly by CityGRID. Submitted designs can be simulated and assessed in different variants in an interactive 3D visualisation.
