Urban Planning and Documentation Projects

Data migration Hamburg

LGV Hamburg

The project was to set up automated routines for the recovery of an existing 3D City Model with various geometrical short comings as a first major step. After the geometrical errors had been fixed, fancy gable roof detail elements had to be added to the buildings for further detailing. The second major element was the transformation of the recovered building data over given ground sketches in a way that the complete ground sketch had to be covered by roof faces. At areas where the roof exceeded the ground sketch, roof overhang faces had to be introduced to the model. The address code, present at the ground sketches, had to be transferred to the buildings to form semantically correct structures. During the transformation process a coordinate transformation from Gauss-Krueger to UTM projection, using a virtual pass point field, had to be applied. Buildings with multiple ground sketches (Terraced houses) were divided automatically based on the given line configuration. All automatic tasks were done in Safe FME with support of new CityGRID functions.  Read more...

Visualisation of a proposed round-about

Government of the province of Lower Austria - 2006/7

A 3D model was produced for a new by-pass (through a tunnel) including the terrain model with ortho texture, modelling of proposed plans, and modelling of the current topography from Terrestrial Laser Scan data. All vegetation was modelled and the surrounding buildings to Level of Detail 2 (LOD2).

Modelling of Neuer Platz

Klagenfurt city council - 2007

The main square in Klagenfurt, Neuer Platz, was to be redeveloped in advance of the Euro2008 competition. The square was redesigned with enhanced pavings, lamp posts and tree plantings. CityGRID produced a 3D model form the city square, Neuer Platz, in Klagenfurt with a high resolution floor texture. Terrestrail Laser Scan data was used to model sculptures and existing vegetation, and all buildings were captured to Level of Detail 3 (LOD3). 3D modelling including vegetation and internals were produced helping to see how the centre could be developed and what it would like afterwards.

3d modelling of a injector channel of the Simmering power plant

Wienstrom GmbH - 2008

A 3D model was produced from laser scan data of the underground cooling canal of the powerstation at Simmering, Vienna. Met GeoInfo collected all the Terrestrial Laser Scan data, and modelled the tunnel to LoD4 (interiors).
